Evil Ball! Select your character!

There we go, ladies and gentlemen. Five fiendish villains. Five minions of evil. Five horrible people, willing to do whatever it takes to get into the Evil League of Evil.

Unfortunately, I've only got enough film for one of them.

So choose! Choose the villain you want to return, and he shall be the star of the Evil Ball Finale: The Musical! (People who make good script suggestions will have their vote count twice.)

And, just in case you'd like to pass this along to a friend for their opinion, all the videos are now linked in the right-hand sidebar.

Voting will continue for at least a little while, to give all the lovely people visiting from elsewhere, such as wonderflonium.com, a little extra time to catch up.

Which, I suppose, is as good an opportunity as any for me to go get a slurpee, and compete in the last Dragon Boat race of the season. Wish me luck!

Evil Ball! Guest Blog #5: Captain Shrovewreaker.

As I was walking down to the Saskatchewan River to film this (which makes -- that's right -- a Saskatchewan Pirate), a grasshopper leapt out of the brush and hit me square in the eyepatch. They're not just for fashion!

(The YouTube link is here.)

Yarr! 'Tis I, Captain Shrovewreaker! My breakfasts are legendary in every pirate haven: my rum-cured bacon, my pancakes with rum syrup, my rummy eggs... no matter the dish, I always use my secret ingredients what please a pirate's palate. Honest sailors fear my plundering of their rations, and scoundrels across the ocean raise their orange juice high when they mention my name. It's a grand life... but any sea dog worth his salt can tell when the winds are changing, and it's time for me to go inland.

Crunch, they call him. The fool dresses like an Admiral, though I've never known a bucket he's fit to command, let alone a ship. And he has the unmitigated cheek to put his name on a breakfast cereal! And have you ever tried that swill? It's as hard as grapeshot, and every bit as dangerous.

As a pirate and as a chef, it's an insult I can't ignore. And as a member of the Evil League of Evil, I'll make him rue the day he ever woke up before brunch!

Shrovewreaker, away!

Evil Ball! Guest Blog #4: Horse Thief.

Ow, ow, ow. During this shoot, I had so much chicken wire sticking into my skull that I felt like a cast member of Hellraiser. Then again, I got the costume for free, so I suppose I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

(In case you're wondering, the one-week delay in Evil Ball was specifically so that I could think up that last line.

(The YouTube link is here.)

Hay there. This is Horse Thief, and I feel like I should explain something.

Yes, I know there's already a horse in the Evil League of Evil. I'm not saying I'm better or badder than Bad Horse, but I certainly think there's enough room in the ELE for two equine-based villains. I mean, how many "Doctors" do they have? Besides, a decoy Bad Horse could be useful to the ELE in certain situations... and that's just a fraction of what I have to offer!

Like I said in the video, I've been trained in the arts of espionage, which means my horse head includes a full stable of communication recording and jamming hardware. Not only that, I've trained myself in the equine arts as well. My iron-clad shoes are handy in a fight, I'm able to subsist for weeks at a time eating nothing but grasses and oats, and I have the power to totally freak out and runaway whenever a supernatural monster is getting near.

Now, you might not think of that last ability as a "power". Well, let me tell you, compared to those guys that don't freak out when they sense a monster approaching, I think I'm doing pretty well, thank you very much.

Evil Ball! Guest Blog #1: The Parasite.

Welcome to the Evil Ball! We'll now be introduced to our panel of applicants, one by one. After that, the audience (that's you) will be able to vote on which one goes on to the next round: The Musical! (Yes, really.) Let's get started, then, with our first entry.

Ah, the Evil League of Evil. If I could get into that club, why, I'd never have to work again. Just sit back, and try not to get in the way while Dr. Horrible and all the others create their usual brand of havoc. Then, I simply waltz on in, and join in the looting. Bliss!

Alas, I'll probably have to work in order to get accepted. Sigh. My preferred method of evil is usually a patient one, but it's not wise to keep Bad Horse waiting. Thus, I'm working on my arsenal of tapeworms! If my anecdotes aren't disgusting enough, a few thrown strands of tissue should send people screaming.

I just hope they don't look too closely, or else they'll notice it's spaghetti.

(What, did you think I was actually going to touch those things? Ugh! I get the shivers just thinking about it.)

At any rate, I'm glad to have this opportunity to announce my evilness to the world. Tremble, people of the world! The Parasite lurks among you!

He's got a Ph.D in Horribleness.

Some friends have asked me if I've seen Doctor Horrible's Singalong Blog yet.

A musical about an evil genius trying to impress the cute girl at the laundromat? I was onboard this dinghy even before they started inflating it.

And now, it's time to give something back. At a recent interview, Joss Whedon mulled over the idea of accepting video applications into the Evil League of Evil in the future.

You don't say...

*cough* *coughcough*

Sorry about the cloud -- it happens when you blow the dust off your camcorder for the first time in four years. But it's up and running now, and it's time to make the magic happen.

Now, which villain is going to make his application? Tune in tomorrow, and we'll meet the contestants.
